Moving On

Moving On follows Bahji as she prepares to leave her hometown to pursue her dreams. Through reflection and familiar spaces, the film explores nostalgia, growth, and the bittersweet process of moving on. Centered on themes of change and self-discovery, the film captures the emotional tension between holding onto the past and stepping into an uncertain future.

The film was selected for the Ohio Shorts Film Festival, which celebrated its 30th anniversary at the Wexner Center for the Arts. Curated by acclaimed writer Hanif Abdurraqib, the festival featured 12 films chosen from 163 submissions across Ohio in both youth and adult divisions. Moving On premiered as part of the festival’s official screening program.

The film was also selected for the Governor’s Show, one of Ohio’s longest-running and most prestigious student art exhibitions. Now in its 56th year, the exhibition showcases artwork from students across all public, private, and chartered high schools in the state, celebrating artistic achievement and encouraging the advancement of young artists throughout Ohio.
